F is for Finley

Baby showers are not my thing.  I'm terrible at the games, I never know exactly what to get the soon-to-be mom and I certainly don't know how to hold babies that are there.  I have recently had a change of heart.

When the shower is for someone you love dearly, it becomes a genuine celebration of life.  As blogger Jen Gerhardt mentions in this post, "Showers aren’t just about stuff (although the stuff matters); they’re about community, support, and love."

Many of my dear friends are starting to have children of their own and it is so exciting to celebrate with them.  Our good friends Brandon and Victoria are having a little girl and I got to help with her shower last week.   The room was filled to the brim with many women who have known Victoria through various parts of her life over the last many years- family, friends, roommates, co-workers, kids she's nannied for years, and more.  We did a few activities, including decorating onesies, writing messages on diapers, guessing when the little one will be born, and of course, ate, talked and watched her open gifts!  So many people pitched in to help pull off the shower.  It was truly a group effort.

It was a such a special time together and now, more than ever, I am so excited to meet their little Finley and see them grow into their new roles as parents.  Congratulations friends!
tasty treats!
